Greta’s Journal

Greta is visual journey, consisting of photographs taken of the scarred bodies of young girls forced into prostitution. Developed in collaboration with the Anti-Slavery and Colors Magazine, Greta includes the diaries of four young girls to give a more intimate perspective of the dynamics and issues involved in the sex slave industry. The photographs featured in this project are taken in such close proximity to the scars that they first appear to the viewer as delicate, seductive, water-colored abstract landscapes. Once the viewer has engaged the images on a closer range, they find themselves disturbed and disoriented by the subject of the photographs. With each photograph belonging to a different girl, they carry a strong and intimate message, voluntarily avoiding the visual exploitation often used by the media.
